ServiceNow has quietly become the operating backbone of many organisations across the Gulf. IT service, HR, customer service, risk and security now run on one platform. The problem: the platform is growing faster than the pool of people who can lead it.
Technical skill is common. Platform leadership is rare.
The region has many strong ServiceNow developers and architects. It has far fewer people who can own a platform strategy, run a budget, hold a seat with the CIO and prove business value. That leadership layer is where most searches stall.
Four reasons the search is hard
- The platform keeps expanding. ITSM was the start. ITOM, HR Service Delivery, Customer Service Management, Risk and Compliance, Security Operations and now AI through Now Assist all need leaders who see the whole picture.
- The best people sit inside partners and big programmes. They are busy delivering and do not browse job boards.
- Partner and customer roles need different leaders. A great Practice Director is not automatically a great Platform Owner, and the reverse is true too.
- Regional competition. Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar are chasing the same experienced people at the same time.
The roles in highest demand
Platform Owner / Head of ServiceNow
Owns the roadmap, budget, adoption and value on the customer side.
Practice Director
Grows a partner practice: pipeline, delivery quality, utilisation and people.
Delivery Director and Manager
Lands complex, multi-module programmes on time and with the client still smiling.
Technical and Enterprise Architect
CTA-level design authority who keeps the platform clean as it scales.
Now Assist and AI Lead
Takes AI use cases from demo to production, with governance.
Risk and Compliance (IRM / GRC) Lead
Brings risk, audit and regulation onto the platform, a growing need in regulated sectors.
How to win the right ServiceNow leader
- 1Define the role by outcomes, not modules. “Double self-service adoption in 12 months” attracts leaders. “ITSM, HRSD, CSM” attracts CVs.
- 2Decide which side you are hiring for. Partner roles are about delivery, utilisation and growing a practice. Customer roles are about ownership, adoption and value.
- 3Test for ownership, not exposure. Many CVs list every module. Ask what they owned end to end, and what happened when something went wrong.
- 4Sell the roadmap. Strong candidates move for scope: new modules, AI, regional growth. Salary gets them to the table. The roadmap gets them to sign.
- 5Decide in weeks, not months. The best ServiceNow leaders usually have more than one conversation running.

A ServiceNow leader is not the person who knows the most modules. It is the person who can prove the platform made the business better.
